1. Traditional-style vestments are marked by the sacred quality imparted to them by the sacred art of vestment making. Use of fine fabrics and designs according to the timless custom of the Church ensures a more reverent and splendid worship of God in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
2. There is a growing movement of priests and laity devoted to restoring the Sacred to the Liturgy. This includes the Reform of the Reform movement devoted to bringing back some of the beautiful heritage of the Mass that has been lost--Gregorian chant, use of Latin, facing East (ad orientem), and of course Traditional-style vestments. Often priests will celebrate a more traditional Mass according to the new-post Vatican II missal (New Mass).
3. Also, there is the Traditional Latin Mass movement of priests and laity dedicated to the Tridentine Latin Mass (pre-Vatican II), especially since Pope Benedict XVI has authorized and encouraged all priests to celebrate this Mass with his new motu proprio Summorum Pontificum. This is the ancient and venerable Roman rite preserved since Vatican II by priestly societies such as the Society of St. Pius X or the Fraternity of St. Peter.
